Work Experience

OUR WORK EXPERIENCE IN ODIHAM In January I came for two weeks to England to do a work experience at two different junior schools– Greenfields and Hook. I had great fun and enjoyed the stay a lot.At school all the staff and students were really nice, we even taught them a bit about Germany. And I suppose having to speak English all day quite improved it.I stayed with a very kind and lovely family and me and my exchange partner got along very well. Onthe weekend we went to London on the London Eye, to Camden Market and to Covent Garden. Itwas an amazing experience I don´t want to miss.Mona Prendke (Isabel Stanley)

The two weeks in England passed too fast. Together with my friend Mona, I worked in two juniorschools (Greenfield and Hook) and it was a great experience, because everyone was so kind and caring.I talked a lot especially to the children and so learned many new words and expressions. Theschools were really interesting and I was even a bit jealous about the schools` technical equipment. My host family was great. At first I was a bit scared, but I was warmly received and they werereally lovely to me. Even with many mock exams for my poor partner, we managed to do a lot of greatthings together. All in all I strongly recommend this work experience, because you get to know new people, new places and new lifestyles. I had muchfun and really enjoyed the weeks. Thank you.

Luise Schwarz (Jessica Hingston)I liked the work experience in England very much. It was nice to work with the childrenat Mayhill and Long Sutton schools and talk to them and I think we improved our Englisha lot in this way.We taught the children a bit of German which was fun. They were really interested inthis and asked a lot of questions.I also enjoyed just being in England again and doing some things with our exchange partnersand I would really like to come back here some time.Sharleen Belde (Emily O’Neill)

I enjoyed this exchange very much. I was not only lucky enough to have a very friendly host family, that made me feel home very quickly, but also to meet many nice pupils and teachers at MayhillJunior School and Long Sutton Junior School. Especially the teachers treated us very respectfully.Sharleen and I took part at the lessons and created a powerpoint presentationabout Berlin, which we showed to the different classes of both schools. We were also veryimpressed by the good behaviour of the children. They asked us questions about Berlin and calledfor us when they needed help. But the best part of these two weeks has been our weekend trip to Oxford. My host family and me walkedaround all the great colleges and visited the places where Harry Potter has been filmed.I am so happy that I had the opportunity to take part at this exchange. I already misslovely little Odiham and my wonderful host family. I got on so well with my exchangeLara, that we have already planned a reunion in England and in Germany.Anne Förster (Lara Brooks)
